Dress Code 

All dancers must wear suitable dancewear for each class. Midriff shirts and sports bras are not proper dance attire for any style. Failure to remember dancewear, shoes, appropriate hairstyle, or unsuitable clothing is not permitted, and after the 2nd occurrence, the dancers will be asked to sit and watch the class. The dress code for FPIM classes is outlined below:

 BALLET – Girls Level 1-5;

  • Black leotard

  • Pink ballet tights

  • Pink ballet shoes (purchased from Dance n Stuff)

  • Hair slicked back out of the face and in a bun, no bangs

  • Ballet skirts and leg warmers are acceptable

  • No shorts of any kind and no distracting jewelry

BALLET – Boys Level 1-5;

  • White shirt

  • Black ballet tights for males

  • Black ballet shoes

 ACRO/JAZZ/CONTEMPORARY/LYRICAL/TECHNIQUE – Girls Level 1-5;

  • Leotards or T-shirts are acceptable; however, a sports bra must be worn underneath, no bralettes

  • Leggings are fine, and tights must be worn if wearing shorts above fingertip length

  • Barefoot for acro

  • Tan jazz shoes for level 1-2 for jazz/lyrical

  • Skin tone pirouettes for levels 3-5 for jazz/contemporary

  • Hair slicked back out of the face and in a bun, no bangs or distracting jewelry

ACRO/JAZZ/CNTEMPORARY/LYRICAL/TECHNIQUE – Boys Level 1-5;

  • T-shirt and shorts with slides underneath or jogger pants

  • Barefoot for acro

  • Tan jazz shoes for level 1-2 for jazz/lyrical.

  • Skin tone pirouettes for level 3-5 jazz/contemporary

 CLOGGING/TAP – Girls Level 1-5;

  • Leotards or T-shirts are acceptable; however, a sports bra must be worn underneath, no bralettes

  • Leggings are fine, and tights must be worn if wearing shorts above fingertip length

  • White Steven stompers for clogging shoes

  • Black lace-up tap shoes for tap

  • Hair in ponytail slicked back out of the face, no bangs or distracting jewelry

CLOGGING/TAP – Boys Level 1-5;

  • T-shirt and shorts with slides underneath or jogger pants

  • White Steven stompers for clogging shoes

  • Black lace-up tap shoes for tap

 BROADWAY – Girls ages 10+;

  • Leotard of your choice

  • Skin tone tights

  • Flowing skirt just above the knee

  • Tan character heels (purchased from Dance n Stuff)

  • Hair slicked back out of the face and in a bun, no bangs or distracting jewelry

BROADWAY - Girls ages 7-10;

  • Leotard of your choice

  • Skin tone tights

  • Flowing skirt just above the knee

  • Tan jazz shoes (purchased from Dance n Stuff)

  • Hair slicked back out of the face and in a bun, no bangs or distracting jewelry

IMPROV/HIP HOP/FLEX-CORE;

  • T-shirt and leggings/joggers

  • Tights must be worn if wearing shorts above fingertip length

  • Barefoot for improv

  • Sneakers for hip hop & flex/core

  • Hair in ponytail slicked back out of the face, no bangs or distracting jewelry

 SILKS/LYRA – Girls;

  • Must wear a leotard with tights OR a leotard with leggings

  • Barefoot

  • Hair in a bun, slicked back out of the face, no bangs, and no jewelry of any kind

  • Leggings and Leotards cannot have sequins, zippers, buttons, or anything sharp that may tear the silks.

    • Please note that if a dancer is found to be wearing jewelry or clothing that may cause damage to the silks, a verbal warning will be given to the dancer, and an email will be sent to the parent. It is essential to avoid further infractions, as each additional occurrence will result in an automatic fine of $50. I appreciate your cooperation in maintaining the safety and integrity of our equipment.

SILKS/LYRA – Boys;

  • See Ms. Taylor for specifics.

 PRIMARY BALLET/TAP/JAZZ/HIP HOP - Girls;

  • Any color leotard

  • Ballet skirts optional

  • Pink ballet tights

  • Pink ballet shoes

    • Dancers can wear their ballet shoes for jazz

  • Sneakers must be provided for Hip Hop

  • Black buckle tap shoes

  • Hair must be pulled back out of the face

    • Dancers will be taking ballet and tap each week and will alternate between jazz and hip-hop every other week.

PRIMARY BALLET/TAP/JAZZ/HIP HOP - Boys;

  • Any t-shirt

  • Black jogger pants

  • Black ballet shoes

    • Dancers can wear black ballet shoes for jazz

  • Sneakers must be provided for Hip Hop

  • Black buckle tap shoes

    • Dancers will be taking ballet and tap each week and will alternate between jazz and hip-hop every other week.

 PETITE/PRIMARY ACRO - Girls;

  • Any color leotard with dance shorts

  • Footless tights

  • Barefoot

  • Hair must be pulled back out of the face.

PETITE/PRIMARY ACRO - Boys;

  • Any t-shirt

  • Black joggers or shorts

  • Barefoot

 PETITE BALLET/TAP - Girls;

  • Any color leotard with ballet skirt

  • Pink ballet tights

  • Pink ballet shoes

  • Black buckle tap shoes

  • Hair must be pulled back out of the face.

PETITE BALLET/TAP - Boys;

  • Any T–shirt

  • Black joggers

  • Black ballet shoes

  • Black buckle tap shoes

All Team Rehearsal Classes (including solo, duet & trio rehearsals);

Boys-

  • Black shirt

  • Black pants/shorts

  • Proper shoes pertaining to style

Girls-

  • Black leotard

  • Skin tone stirrup tights

  • Skin tone pirouettes or other dance shoes related to style

  • Black Jazz pants

  • Form-fitting shorts are optional and must be approved by the instructor

    • If a dancer is wearing shorts, they must wear tights

  • Hair must be securely pulled up for every class, including bangs pinned back. Jewelry is not permitted while in class. 

 *NOTE: Parents, note that all dancers must have their hair styled appropriately for their classes. If your child arrives at the studio without the necessary supplies to put their hair up, please be aware that you will be responsible for purchasing hair ties and any bun accessories required.
